Acne & Rosacea
Hormone fluctuations are one of the main triggers of active acne, which is why this inflammatory skin condition is most common among teenagers and throughout pregnancy. With that said, acne can affect anyone and at any age. The condition is characterised by pimple breakouts and redness, most commonly around the face, neck, back and chest. There are also numerous skin factors that can contribute to your condition, such as the size of your pores, excessive oil production, and the presence of certain bacteria. As persistent redness is a common symptom, acne and rosacea are often confused and referred to interchangeably, despite being completely unrelated conditions.
Redness and swelling are the two most common symptoms of rosacea, a skin disease which is often persistent across the middle of the face and the cheeks. These symptoms have a tendency to “flush”, and while some pimples can occur, they’re completely different to acne pimples. The exact cause of rosacea is unknown, although there are certain triggers. With that said, both acne and rosacea are notoriously difficult to treat and to live with, with a tailored approach to treatment being necessary for each patient to regain healthy, youthful skin that you can be confident in. This is exactly what you can expect when consulting with our skincare experts at North West Aesthetics.
