Autumn – The Perfect Season For A Chemical Peel
As the nights draw in and gold and red leaves carpet the ground, we wave goodbye to summer and welcome the crisp air of autumn. Our skin is grateful for the change in season, as UV rays and warmer temperatures no longer pose such dehydrating harm. Sun damage can cause pigmentation, age spots, fine lines and wrinkles to worsen, making a Chemical Face Peel the perfect way to celebrate the end of summer. Cooler months are the ideal time for Chemical Peels as the skin is especially vulnerable to sun damage after treatment.

Which Chemical Face Peel Is Right For You?
North West Aesthetics offers three different Chemical Peels: The Perfect Peel™, The Obagi® Blue Peel and The Obagi® Radiance Peel. Each treatment varies in its strength, ingredients and associated downtime.
The Perfect Peel™
The award-winning Perfect Peel™ blends acids, vitamins and minerals to promote healthy, clearer and younger-looking skin in just one week. Kojic acid stimulates collagen and elastin production, while salicylic acid exfoliates the skin and reduces inflammation. However, its primary ingredient, glutathione, is what sets The Perfect Peel™ apart.
Involved in tissue building and repair, glutathione penetrates deep into the skin, fighting oxidant damage and reversing premature signs of ageing. The acid regulates melanin production, helping to lighten dark spots and pigmentation, creating a more even skin tone.
The Perfect Peel™ takes as little as 15 minutes to administer and requires little to no downtime. The skin begins to shed around day 3 and the supplied home care moisturiser helps to reduce peeling visibility. Outstanding results are achieved after a single procedure, although more severe pigmentation issues may require a course of treatment spaced over a few weeks.
The Obagi® Blue Peel
The Obagi® Blue Peel is a medium-depth treatment that utilises trichloroacetic acid (TCA) to remove the outer layers of the skin. The peel is applied in layers and TCA penetrates slowly, meaning stubborn areas of pigmentation or scarring can be targeted. As new cells form, the skin appears tighter, with a noticeable reduction in fine lines and wrinkles.
Clients are required to use the Obagi Nu-Derm® System to prepare their skin 6 weeks prior to treatment. This regulates the skin’s melanocytes and reduces the risk of hyperpigmentation post-procedure.
As the Obagi® Blue Peel is more intense than other peels, more severe skin complaints may be addressed. As a result of this, more downtime is required. The skin begins to peel around 2 to 3 days after treatment and can appear blue in colour. This may continue for up to 10 days.
The Obagi® Radiance Peel
The Obagi® Radiance Peel is a much lighter treatment option, primarily composed of salicylic acid. This thoroughly exfoliates the skin and treats more superficial skin concerns, such as open pores, blemishes and a dull complexion.
Like the Blue Peel, the solution is applied in layers allowing treatment to be customised based on the client’s specific areas of concern. Dead skin cells are shed, revealing brighter, more youthful-looking skin.
Light Chemical Face Peels require little to no downtime as the skin peels mildly for only a few days. We recommend booking the Obagi® Radiance Peel monthly over autumn and winter to maintain a dewy glow.
