The recent passing of the Botulinum Toxin and Cosmetic Fillers (Children) Bill marks an important step in the safeguarding of minors against the inappropriate use of Botox® and fillers. What Is The Botulinum Toxin and Cosmetic Fillers (Children) Bill?
A Private Member’s Bill, the Botulinum Toxin and Cosmetic Fillers (Children) Bill stipulates that those under the age of 18 are prohibited from receiving invasive non-surgical cosmetic treatments, excepting in cases where there is an explicit medically determining justification. All aesthetics practitioners are legally required to comply with the new legislation.
Until the bill’s passing, there were no statutory provisions for minors being treated with Botox® and fillers, despite there being rules in place for other aesthetic-related procedures such as tattoo removal and sunbed use.
